Multi Level Marketing Basics – The MLM Business Model

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

MLM, or Multi Level Marketing, when combined with the Internet, creates a powerful formula for creating a successful home business and achieving financial freedom.

This business model is used by hundreds of companies to move their goods and services to the end consumer.  In this article, my goal is to provide you with information on what this industry is and what it is not.

You can only make an informed educated decision as to whether or not this business concept if right for you if you have the required information upon which to make that decision.  I hope to provide some of that information in this article.

Multi Level Marketing is simply a business model for moving products and services from production to the consumer using independent distributors with a multi level commission payout plan.  Since distributors can recruit other distributors and establish teams that work together, this business model is often also called Network Marketing.

There are many myths about MLM companies, including that they are illegal pyramid schemes or scams.  For true Multi Level Marketing companies, nothing could be further from the truth.  Unfortunately, those who believe these myths, simply do not understand how MLM companies work.

The first thing that you need to know is that MLM is not illegal and it is not a pyramid scheme.  While the organizational structure resembles a pyramid in shape, this is true of almost all businesses.  There are far more workers in the lower ranks of any business then at the top, if not, the business would collapse.  Not everyone in the company can be CEO or Vice President.  If fact, Multi Level Marketing companies are one hundred percent legal and many multi-million dollar companies use this business model to market their products.

Some well known Multi Level Marketing companies include Herbalife, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Shaklee, Amway, Tupperware, Princess house (a subsidiary of Colgate Palmolive), A. L. Williams (Insurance), Melaleuca, U.S. Sprint, MCI, and NSA.  Companies such as these have been around for decades.

There are hundreds more MLM companies and just like other companies, some are good and some are not so good.  But MLM is certainly here to stay and it is an explosive growth field!  In fact, increasingly you will find more and more Fortune 500 companies employing the Network Marketing business model for some portion of their marketing portfolio!

So why are MLM companies and programs becoming so popular?  Well, the business model offers a wonderful opportunity for the “little guy” to start his own business on a part time basis with very little investment money upfront, but with a large income potential if she or he is willing to put in some work!  Contrary to what some people would want you to believe, MLM is certainly not a get rich quick scheme and requires effort to grow your business.

John Paul Getty is often quoted as having said that he would always prefer earning 1% of a hundred peoples efforts than 100% of his own efforts.  And that is precisely what Multi Level Marketing is all about.  The Multi Level Marketing sales force members are not actually employees of the company, but instead they are independent distributors who are compensated for their efforts by commission based on the amount of product moved by not only themselves, but also by those whom they recruit as distributors.

As each distributor recruits others to become distributors, they create what is known as a downline and in addition to their own retail sales commissions, they earn a wholesale commission on the amount of products their downline distributors move to consumers.  This process goes on for some designated number of levels and is where the term “multi level” originates.

The more people a distributor can recruit for his downline, the larger will be their total commissions.  The number of levels that a distributor will earn override commissions on will depend upon the company’s compensation plan but five to seven or more levels is not unusual.  These wholesale override commissions can quickly add up for distributors with a large downline.

A strong incentive is thus created not only for a distributor to recruit more distributors for their downline, but also to train them to move products as well.  Thus a successful distributor will want to duplicate their success by teaching their downline members how to be successful.  By making their downline members successful, they make themselves more successful.

Building large stable residual income is therefore the result of successfully recruiting, training, and retaining others.  The better one is at doing these things, the larger their income will become.  While it is not necessarily easy, it can be very rewarding.

Want to be your own boss?  Millions of people are earning a solid income using this business model working from home.   A telephone, basic computer, fax machine, a HUGE ambition, and the knowledge of how to proceed to grow your business are all it really takes!  Are you ready to explore the opportunities that Multi Level Marketing offers?

If so, did you know that sponsoring people into your MLM opportunity is completely irrelevant to making money in network marketing? (And no, I’m not talking about retailing your company’s products). Find out how you can get people to PAY YOU to prospect them… rather than you having to pay for your prospects. Click here to learn more at => The Renegade Network Marketer

Comparison of Different School Name Labels

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

People like to be aware of which garments and possessions are theirs, and in most situations this is not difficult If lots of individuals wear uniforms, or have their clothes cleaned at the same time then some kind of name label identification is needed. There are several types of personalised labels and we compare all of them here:

Clothes tag Appearance:
The best looking labels are printed fabric or woven labels which need to be sewn into uniforms, second position is shared by iron on labels and stikins and last place has to go to laundry markers and biro where the name is written into the garment.

Labelling Speed:
The fastestmethod of personalisingclothing is a laundry marker followed by stikins and then iron on labelling. Sewing in labels comes last in terms of speed particularly if one is a non sewer, or have many labels to sew in.

Name Label Durability:
Washing machines remove things from garments, and have a very harsh environment for labels. Labels can fail because they fall off or because the print deteriorates. A well sewn in woven name label is the most durable solution and it should last the life of the garment. Mixed results come from iron on labels in terms of staying in; some are very good and some are poor, the kind of fabric they are ironed on to is also a factor, but they tend not to fade. Stikins school name labels generally survive extremely well if applied correctly and the print does not fade. Laundry markers do tend to fade with time but there is no issue regarding falling off.

Name Label Cost:
Laundry markers are the cheapest and there are also some low priced label sew in tapes. Woven and embroidered labels have a range of prices and are generally more expensive than iron in labels and stikins. The most expensive name labels are the ones that do not work, or need replacing often so buying cheap may not be good value in the end.

Which Name Label Is Best?
None of the labels in this comparison is an overall winner, all have pros and cons and the most suitable for you will depend what is most important to you. If appearance overrides everything go for the best woven labels, if cost is vital buy a marker pen, if you want a good all round performer buy Stikins. A referral from a friend or samples first is a good way of making sure of the quality of iron on labels, which can also be good all rounders. So good luck choosing iron on labels for your clothes.

Hedge Funds and What Is Involved In Managing Them

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

A hedge fund is something you may not be aware of, it’s no problem if you haven’t The majority many people that understand hedge funds much dwarf the population who have. The reason for this is because they are only aimed at a fraction number of us, the ones who are extremely wealthy. The average person like us are not on the target of potential investors, very large banks or affluent investors are.

The kind of transactions hedge funds can do include long and short positions, arbitrage, buying and selling securities that are below market, shares and loans. Whilst there is one name ‘hedge funds’ to include everything, don’t be fooled about the number of styles and strategies available. A lot of hedge funds hedge gamble against downturns in markets. The ultimate goal of a hedge fund is to decrease risks and lower volatility, whilst at the same time creating a good return no matter what the market environment are.

The last point is critical when determining to get involved in hedge funds. Hedge fund managers can determine whether your investment will enjoy a profit or not. That is the reason why they are in such extreme demand, if you find an experienced, knowledgeable hedge fund manager or hedge fund management team then you are on your way to making a profit.

If you are thinking about investing in hedge funds then you need to keep in mind a few different elements. First of all you need to know that despite the smaller level of risk than some investment vehicles, you will still have risk – it’s not free money. You should also ask before you go into any deal with management as the fees charged can eat into your profit quite easily. Usually you are obligated to pay between 1 and 2% of assets plus around a 20% performance related fee, so if you turn a profit then the manager will get 20% of your gain. Make sure you set the proper performance related premium as a higher one may entice the manager to take gambles that weren’t necessary and a low one may discourage potential managers from working for you.

Vacation to the Carowinds Theme Park in North Carolina

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Spending part of your North Carolina vacation at Carowinds Theme Park will not only have you glad you did but your kids will think you are the best thing ever!

If you have children under 5 years of age don’t think there is nothing for them to do, there is the Nickelodeon center where the kids can take a train ride with Dora the Explorer’s Azul or fly, dip and swirl with Danny Phantom. Hugs are the name of the game for the little ones with the life-size Nickelodeon characters throughout the park.

With kids from 6 – 12 you can keep them happy with either seeing some of the live shows that go on throughout the park all day or visit Nickelodeon Central where there are more than 20 attractions for their age group. They can even visit Scooby Doo’s Haunted Mansion! They will love to plunge into 20 acres of fun in the water park. There are many rides that they will enjoy even one that taken guests 320 feet above the park! There is the “Wild mouse” roller coaster that will give the kids a real thrill or the Scream Weaver – Gondolas which spin in a horizontal position and lifts into the vertical position, sending riders into upside down orbit. With all these and many more choices for the kids they will be busy from the time you walk in until you finally get them to leave at the end of the day!

For teens between 12 – 18 the thrills never end. They can ride the Nighthawk, the flying coaster and tallest one in the park or the Rip Roarin’ Rapids with the white water raging expedition you can take in a 6 person craft (and get really, really wet). Of course there are the bumper cars that are a favorite of many kids. Now envision them on the Thunder Road which is a forward and backward roller coaster. They may want to plunge down a 45 foot waterfall to the pool of water below (another great way to cool off on a hot day.) There are so many rides and attractions for them that they may want you to come back with them the next day!

As adults you may think that you are supposed to sit back and watch the kids have fun…WRONG! Get out there with them, talk them into going on the Xtreme SkyFlyer with you and experience the thrill of skydiving as you are lifted 153 feet in the air and then pull the ripcord for a 50 foot free fall at 60 mph. (you need to be really brave for this one and it does have an additional charge.)

If that isn’t enough for you then go to the Drop Zone where you will experience a 56 mph 100 ft. free fall. Probably don’t want to eat just before you do this, could get messy!

The Hurler is the wooden coaster that reaches 50 mph with thrilling dips and turns.

This is just the beginning of the fun that waits for you and your family in Charlotte on your North Carolina vacation!

Make Money Online Fast

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

If you want to make money online fast than a very popular way to do so will be through Affiliate Marketing.

Affiliate Marketing

Its free to start and hence more popular than some of the other ways of online marketing. In this system you have to find a product which someone else owns and then sign up to their affiliate program and start promoting the product. With every sale you make of the product you will get a percentage of money. To start affiliate marketing you will not be needed to build your own website or even handle any transaction. You will just have to drive the customers to your affiliate link which is a URL code that identifies customers visiting the company’s site through your advertising. It is actually the website address having a code attached to its end.

There are various ways of making money online fast with Affiliated Programs, if you can follow the proper ways. On searching you can find a lot of affiliate programs available in the net. What you will have to do is take some time and search for the right program for you. After you find the right one and sign up for it you will be given a website from where you will be able to start promoting the product. To get more visitors to your affiliate websites you have to learn to advertise online.

One of the very good ways of marketing your affiliate website is through pay per click advertising. Though it costs some money in the beginning, it is also one of the quickest ways to begin making money online. But for this you will have to educate yourself properly about the system or you may end up losing more money than what you make.

The second very effective method of advertising your affiliate programs is through free advertising like blogs, articles, social networking, traffic exchanges, etc. These don’t cost any money but takes more time than the paid methods.

The third good way for advertising your affiliate program is by buying a solo ad from a person having a number of loyal subscribers. Though this will also cost you a little amount of money but if you take your time and do some research it will bring you good money in the end. Thus no matter which way you use for advertising your affiliate programs, the most important thing is, unless you advertise well you will not be able to make any money.

E-Currency Trading

The other way to make money online fast is by E-Currency Trading. It has a number of benefits, from having a 24 hour market to low transaction costs which make it very appealing. Although it takes some time to build an income, e-currency trading is quite beneficial if you take the proper training.

Some of the various reasons for the popularity of e-currency trading are

i) Geographical versatility- As long as you have a computer with an internet connection, business can be done from anywhere in the world.

ii) 24-hour markets- All the time there are people trading around the world, so you can do business at any time suitable to you.

iii) Low Minimum Investment- Some of the markets on the internet have a low minimum investment, which creates many opportunities for people to start earning money without having to spend much.

iv) Low Transaction Cost- Due to low transaction costs in e-currency trading you have to spend a less amount of money on fees and can build up a good income flow. In this the only major transaction cost one has to bear with is the difference between the selling and buying price of each pair of currency.

Summer Cottage Adventure Travel in Iceland

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Traditional options for accommodation when you travel to iceland sometime prove too costly for families and small groups. Foreign tourists looking for bargain travel deals in Iceland get great value for money while staying in a summer cottage rather than in a hotel or a guesthouse. Viator an an online reservation/booking service  provides an exclusive but inexpensive booking service on behalf of 130 owners of privately owned summer cottages in all parts of Iceland.

Viator.is was founded in 2002 by Petur Oskarsson and Bjarnheidur Hallsdottir. The company represents the owners of 130 privately owned cottages located in all parts of the country who make their cottages available for rent to foreign tourists visiting Iceland. Although each cottage is furnished and decorated differently they all include hot and cold water as well as heating. The cottages also include a shower or a bath, fully equipped kitchen and one or more bedrooms.

“About 80 percent of our customers spend their time here during the summer season which coincides with the traditional school holidays in Europe and North America,” says Oskarsson. Those visiting the country in winter would enjoy a different kind of experience such as sitting in a hot-tub heated with geothermal water while gazing at the northern lights.

Nearly half of all summer cottages in Iceland are located within an hour’s drive from Reykjavik the country’s capital where 65 percent of the population lives.

Further information about renting privately owned summer cottages in Iceland is available both in English and in the German language as Ferienhäuser in Island on Viator’s website: www.viator.is

How Did Identity Theft Get Started?

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Identity theft never used to be a common crime. Exactly how did it get to be such a big deal?

In the early days of plastic, when you used a credit card to purchase something at a store, the clerk would place your card in a little machine and make a three copy impression of your card on paper. But before doing that, they would thumb through their most recent booklet of ‘bad’ credit card numbers to be sure yours wasn’t on the list. Then they wrote the page number where your account number would have been in numerical order on your receipt to prove they had looked it up. Whew.. that was a project just to write let alone to remember the old days when we really did go through that just to charge a purchase.

Things got a little better when clerks were able to make a phone call to check your account number because obviously, that little booklet they used to use would be outdated the instant they were printed. So the phone call method of checking was progress. Sometimes it was a bit faster but usually not because busy signals were common.

Unfortunately, if someone was using a credit card in a long line of customers, it was a very slow line. Cash was still king. Finally the process worked up into the sleek system we have today with nearly immediate approval in a matter of moments. You’re much more likely to see someone using plastic instead of cash.

All this progress has come with a price. The price goes by the name of ‘identity theft’. Instant credit and fast approvals has a dark side and we need to be prepared on how to deal with it. Identity theft protection can be done by yourself or you can hire a company to take care of it for you. If you’re looking for a company, Suze Orman recommends Trusted ID. Read a Trusted ID Review. Get a TrustedID Promotion code. Or you can compare LifeLock or TrustedID and see what makes them different.
