Backlinks from Forum Profiles

One of the most valued backlinks over the last few years has been backlinks from forum profiles. In fact, they are a few ways that you can use forums to place links to your websites. Why are these so vital to your promotion efforts?  Simple – it is because they have been given quite a bit of authority by all the major search engines. Of course, many of these forums contain a very high page rank, so this in itself is a good reason to use them. Let us look closer as to how you can use backlinks from forum profiles to improve the search engine ranking of your website.

Backlinks from Forum Profiles – Why We Use Them

We mentioned earlier that there is more than one way to utilize forum backlinks. The first way is to get links from forum profiles themselves. As you may already know, when you register to be a member on a forum, they ask you for quite a bit of bio. Not only do they request your name and email, they also ask about your location, hobbies, and even a picture or avatar. But they ALSO request the URL to your website! This is the sacred forum profile link that everyone wants!

If you want tons of backlinks from forum profiles, there are lots of ways to get them. You can hire someone to make them for you offered in various packages and at various prices. Or you can get some software and do it yourself. By far the best profile submitting software I have ever seen – bar none – is the Sick Submitter. I have been personally using this system for years. Although you can use it to submit articles, backlinks, RSS feeds, and so forth – it is their profile forum submitter that is awesome!

My favorite part about Sick Submitter is that with the latest version (still in beta as of this writing), you can schedule profile submissions for the entire day and then do something else! AMAZING!! Anyway, for less than $20 a month, you can use this software and get GREAT RESULTS!!!

The second way to benefit from forum backlinks is much more involved than the first. This method is actually more effective but requires much more commitment. It requires that you get personally involved in that forum’s community. You need to make lots of beneficial comments and posts, get to know the other members and build trust with them. Why? Because most forums allow you to make a “signature” which appears at the bottom of every post you make.

And what can we place in that signature you ask? Yep .. you guessed it! A BIG juicy backlink to our website! Not only that, you can usually type in a headline as well. This doesn’t come without some stipulations though. Often times, depending on the rules of that particular forum, you generally have to make a certain number of posts before you can use this signature area.

Also, you need to make sure that the links you place are “dofollow” links – as opposed to “nofollow” links. Dofollow links simply means that you get the link juice from that backlink which increases your search engine ranking. Nofollow links will lead to your site, but no benefit of increased website ranking. We will talk about link juice in a later discussion …
