Two Separate Conditions

At times depression and anxiety are faced by patients separately, one from another. A patient can face depression in his daily routine and can also add to it with anxiety.

Their depression is a separate factor than their anxiety, and in these cases anxiety and depression are not related. You might compare it to how being obese can sometimes lead to diabetes, but sometimes a person might already be diabetic and then gain weight over time. They are just two separate conditions.

Similar Symptoms for Anxiety and Depression

Usually both anxiety and depression share a very similar pattern of symptoms. Anxiety patients do get distracted very soon, they can’t control their anger, they also get upset and frustrated very soon. They also try to avoid people and situations.

These symptoms are common for depression also. It doesn’t mean thet you only feel sad while under depression but you also get angry vey soon, you feel frustrated, and so you isolate yourself. People think they have both anxiety and depression at this situation when only one set of symptoms is overlapping the other.

Anxiety Leads to Depression

There is a possibility of damaging yourself emotionally, mentally or physically; if you are an overly anxious person. Your body can’t hold such heightened state of emergency for days or long periods of time.

A person suffering from anxiety often ends up suffering with depression also. They become so anxious about themselves or there surroundings that the body can’t handle the situation and so they finally become depressed.

Additionally because a person is anxious over outside factors these same factors may make him or her feel depressed. Family problems, job problems, financial setbacks, a divorce or death, needing to move to a new area, and many factors that cause anxiety can also cause a person to suffer from depression. They have both anxiety and depression because of these outside factors. In this way the two conditions are intertwined.

Having to deal with both anxiety and depression is very difficult for the patient and his or her family.
